Subalpine Guided Wildflower Walks

Join a park naturalist on a 1-hour wildflower walk around the summit area of Mount Revelstoke and learn how alpine plants have adapted to live in a cold place covered in meters of snow for half the year. Expect roughly 2.5 kilometres of walking on uneven dirt trails with some steep sections (rated “Easy” by Mount Revelstoke criteria). Meet at Balsam Lake Parking Lot bus shelter. The summit areas of Mt. Revelstoke is is 26km (40-minute drive) away from downtown Revelstoke, and a free shuttle will be offered during the festival. 

What to expect:

2.5 kilometre walk on uneven dirt trails with some steep sections (rated Easy by Mt. Revelstoke criteria). Be prepared with walking shoes, bug spray, water, and appropriate clothing for the cooler alpine weather (layers are recommended). There are outhouses, but no food, water, beverage services, or cell phone reception at the Mt. Revelstoke summit area.

Pre-registration is required. Free with National Parks Day Pass or Discovery Pass. Email [email protected] or call Mt. Revelstoke National Park at 250-200-0159. Max 20 people, walk-in welcome if space allows.
*Please note that dogs are not allowed in the summit area of Mount Revelstoke National Park, including within vehicles.
**In the event that the summit parking lots are full, passenger vehicles may be turned away from the parkway at the base and participants will not be able to access the meeting point. Arrive early to improve your chances of accessing the summit. Alternate location in case of limited alpine park access: Soren Sorenson parking lot at the Nels Nelson Historic Area.
