Paws on Parade

Come celebrate Revelstoke and District Humane Society 20th year anniversary.

Revelstoke and District Humane Society (RDHS) invites you to join our very first community event of its kind, Paws on Parade. This is an all ages, family-friendly walk-a-thon, including your four-legged canine family member (no felines please). RDHS is a 100% not-for-profit volunteer run organization. Without the board members and volunteers alongside community support and generous donations, we would not be able to support our furry friends in need. This event is a great chance to get outdoors, meet our board members and volunteers, get some exercise and have some fun.

How to Register to Participate in the event:

Select your “Registration” based on your age category
Children (<5yrs.) = Free
Children (6 – 12yrs) = $5
Youth (13 – 17 yrs.) = $10
Adults (18+) = $15
One entry per person.
Note: All registration fees are subject to a small platform fee.
Registration includes:
1 entry day of to walk-a-thon + 1 pet entry. All registrants will be given a goody bag and entered in the door prize raffle. You must be registered in order to receive goody bag.
Light snacks and refreshments will be provided during the event.
Participants are encouraged to get pledges to raise additional funds.
For every $50 earned in pledges your name will be entered in for the grand prize. The more $ raised = more entries!

Our goal is to raise $5000.

When: June 4th, 2023
Where: Centennial Park and Greenbelt
Registration: 9am
Opening Ceremony: 11am
Walk-a-thon: Walk will begin immediately after opening ceremony. Walkers are invited to join any time, but event will end at 2pm.

Arrival & Waivers:
All walkers must sign-in at the check-in booth prior to the walk. Check-in will consist of each participant signing a waiver and receiving their goody-bag. Registration begins at 9am at the parking lot adjacent to the ball fields in Centennial Park. The opening ceremony will begin at 11am, with the walk beginning immediately afterwards. Late arrivals are welcome, however the event will end at 2pm. There will be no official closing ceremony and participants are welcome to end their walk whenever they please. Late arrivals are welcome, however check-in will end promptly at 1:15pm.

We will be accepting walk-ins the day off pending availability of space and supplies. If you would like to guarantee your spot, it is advised to sign up ahead of time.

Route:
In-person walk will begin at Centennial Park near the ball fields. The walk is mostly flat-gentle terrain along the Greenbelt, down to the Fourth Street bridge and back. There will be a staging area at Kovach park offering refreshments and light snacks. Participants are welcome to complete the course little or as much as they would like.

Parking:
Free parking is available at the waterfront of Centennial Park and the Revelstoke Community Centre, however parking is limited, and participants are encouraged to walk to the event, if possible.

Litter Control:
We at RDHS are aware that events like this can cause excess waste. We encourage participants to:
Bring a reusable cup for refreshments.
Pick-up all dog waste.
Don't litter!
Safety:
We at RDHS are committed to safety. We ask that all participants bringing their four-legged friends will:
Always keep their dogs on leash.
Refrain from bringing a dog that may experience behavioural issues.
Respect space of other people and dogs out on the trails.
