A Season Of Transitions.

In Revelstoke, fall is a season of big transitions, and the weather shifts hard and fast from month to month. We’re in a temperate inland rainforest zone, so by September, you can expect cooler temperatures, fewer bugs, intense colours across the valley, and more rain. This starts to impact what’s doable for outdoor activities – especially up high in the alpine.

Early Fall

September’s usually your best bet for alpine activities, but even then, you need to check conditions since snowfall can start earlier than you’d think. Pretty much all of Revelstoke's summer activities are still enjoyable but with fewer bugs and a slight breeze!

Late Fall

By October, alpine trails start to close out as snow accumulates at higher elevations, and it won’t take long before that snow line starts creeping down. So, while lower-elevation trails stay accessible, the window for summiting peaks is short. By November, snow levels are often well on their way down toward the valley, with rain becoming the norm at lower elevations.

As the season turns, look at lower-elevation hikes, bike trails, or indoor spots like our climbing gyms, local breweries, and art galleries. Revelstoke in the fall is still loaded with things to do, but what’s on the table changes fast as our weather locks into winter mode.
