INDOOR & OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES.
We’re stoked to live in the world's only inland temperate rainforest. Although, that means we experience our fair share of rain - an annual average of over 1200mm! You’ll likely see some wet weather when you’re in Revelstoke, so here is the ultimate guide of what to do here when it’s raining.
Museums.
Learn about our industrial past and how the railway and forestry industry shaped Revelstoke at the Railway Museum, the BC Interior Forestry Museum and Forest Discovery Centre, and the Revelstoke Hydro Dam Visitor Centre.
Learn about the homelands of the Sinixt, as well as the Secwépemc, Ktunaxa, and the Syilx who visit the land known today as Revelstoke, at the Revelstoke Museum & Archives.
Immerse yourself in our rich history with a walking cemetery tour or heritage building tour at the Revelstoke Museum and Archives.
Indoor Activities.
There are many things to try in Revelstoke. Book a yoga class, or go for a swim and sauna at the aquatic centre. Test your skills at the Revelstoke Escape Rooms or watch the team at Big Eddy Glass Works blow glass. Check out Revelstoke’s latest indoor activity, bouldering at Quartzite Climbing Gym.
Brighten a gloomy day by visiting the exciting displays at our art galleries. The Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre has new exhibitions every month and hosts many workshops. In the heart of downtown you can visit Art First; an independent art gallery showcasing local art.
Outdoor Activities.
It doesn’t mean you have to avoid the outdoors because it's raining. Check out Begbie Falls or Sutherland Falls for a spectacular cascading display. Continue exploring by checking out the Greenbelt trail network; it’s a great multi-use trail fit for families. Head to Mount Revelstoke National Park and stroll through Inspiration Woods for a picturesque rainforest experience.
Scenic Activities.
There are some fantastic experiences just out of town if you feel like going for a drive. Head south and go for a soak at Halcyon Hot Springs.
If you don’t mind a little rain, head west and climb through the outdoor high ropes activities at Sky Trek Adventure Park, explore the magical Enchanted Forest, or visit the Ghost Town at Three Valley Gap.
Head to Highway 23 North and go on a tour of the Revelstoke Dam. Continue down the highway to surround yourself with mountains, glaciers, and forests and watch the storm clouds hover over Lake Revelstoke.
Drinks.
Revelstoke is home to two breweries, distilleries, and skilled baristas. Named Canada’s best brewery in 2017, Begbie Brewing is a great place to escape the rain and enjoy a flight in their tasting room. For an easily accessible brew, head to Rumpus Beer Co. right downtown. There’s a constantly evolving menu, based on what people are enjoying.
Just around the corner is Monashee Spirits Craft Distillery, our local source for vodka, gin, and special edition spirits. Boasting the largest spirit collection and largest whisky collection in BC, stop in for an amazing cocktail and take home your own bottle of Revelstoke spirit.
Alcohol not your thing? Go on a caffeine tour and taste coffee from each of our wonderful cafes.
