What to expect this spring.
If you are looking for lush green rainforest, epic waterfalls, and a chance to get in touch with Revelstoke’s natural side, then spring is a perfect time to visit. Spring brings mild temperatures and melts much of Revelstoke’s winter accumulation of snow.
Revelstoke in April.
Snow Conditions
In April, Revelstoke Mountain Resort closes for the season. Keen backcountry skiers can still access alpine terrain, particularly by making the trip to Rogers Pass. Conditions are variable; training and avalanche equipment are a must. If you intend to visit Revelstoke to ski at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, make sure you check the Resort’s calendar, noting the closing day.
Trail Conditions
Revelstoke’s hiking trails begin to melt out in April. Valley bottom trails along the Greenbelt are great choices for biking, running, and hiking. Road biking is also a popular spring activity in Revelstoke, with valley-wide views accessible from Airport Way. For keen mountain bikers, the Sunnyside and Haulin’ Daze trails melt out fairly early in the year due to their southern aspect. Hiking trails in Mount Revelstoke National Park are typically not accessible until later in the year.
Weather
In April, expect temperatures from around 0° to 10° Celsius and ensure that you pack for variable weather.

Revelstoke in May.
Trail Conditions
May is when mountain biking and hiking seasons kick off in earnest. Typically, bikers will be able to ride much of Mount Macpherson and the lower Boulder Mountain trails by the end of May. Some of Mount Revelstoke National Park’s lower trails, like Nels Knickers, Inspiration Woods, and the Soren Sorensen Loop, are accessible in later spring. Our famous alpine trails will not be accessible until later in the summer.
Weather
In May, temperatures range from around 4° to 17° Celsius. Temperatures are above freezing at all elevations, rain is the dominant precipitation (instead of snow), and there is lots of sunshine. By the end of May, the snow has usually disappeared from the lower half of Mount Revelstoke.
Vibes
Spring in Revelstoke is typically quiet, making it a great time to visit if you are looking for an uncrowded nature experience.
Local Tips
Make sure you check the weather, trail conditions, and come prepared for a variable mountain climate.

Revelstoke in June.
Trail Conditions
By June, more and more trails are accessible up the mountain. Revelstoke Mountain Resort opens its bike park and some hiking trails by mid-to-late June.
Most popular alpine trails that venture into the alpine and mountain summits are still closed!
Weather
In June, Revelstoke temperatures range from around 9° to 20° Celsius, and we receive about 10 days of rain.
Revelstoke is located within the world's only inland temperate rainforest; we are certainly thankful for the rain. It keeps our trails tacky and reduces our risk for wildfires later in the summer!
Vibes
By June, the Saturday farmers' markets are in full swing, and downtown is buzzing with patios open. Head to Lake Revelstoke for some time in the sun.
Local Tips
As the weather warms, local trail associations and Parks Canada will update trail statuses. Check trail conditions before heading out and always have a plan B.
