Downtown

There's more to Revelstoke than meets the eye.

Heritage buildings in our downtown core tell stories of the town’s railway and logging past. Locally owned shops, cozy cafés, and unique boutiques line the streets, each adding to a sense of authentic community. The mountains provide a stunning backdrop, while art and culture are everywhere—from the public sculptures and historic architecture to the iconic Art Alleries, where murals bring color and character to unexpected places. Revelstoke’s downtown is as rich in flavors as it is in culture, with restaurants, bakeries, and breweries crafting fresh, locally sourced dishes that make our small town unforgettable.

Walk The

Art Alleries

A walkable open-air art gallery has transformed the streets and alleyways of downtown Revelstoke, illuminated all night. The public outdoor art movement began in 2019 and new art pieces are often added around Luna Art Festival.

Visit Arts Revelstoke's online Art Alleries guide to find a map and artist profiles for each installation.

Explore

Grizzly Plaza

At the heart of Revelstoke's historic downtown, you will find the famous grizzly bear statues, underneath large maple trees that line the first block of Mackenzie Ave. The bandshell hosts 50+ free concerts in the summer months as well as an art installation during the Luna Art Festival.

In the winter months, a walk amongst the maple-lined street is a must, as local non-profit Illuminate Revelstoke has lit up all the trees with lights.

Shop with

Local Businesses

Visiting our downtown core is a direct way you can support our local economy in Revelstoke. A surprise to many is the lack of chain and commercial shops in Revelstoke's downtown core.  It's a huge part of what makes Revelstoke so special. You will often find the local business owners working on the floor with their staff. Many of our restaurants, cafes, breweries, and distilleries source ingredients locally and make their food in-house.

Along the river's edge, a short walk from the downtown streets of Revelstoke lies a greenbelt and conservation area. This area has paved and gravel walking paths that follow along the Columbia and Illecillewaet Rivers.

The multi-use trail networks are used by people looking for leisure walks and bike riders as well as nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking during the winter.
