Revelstoke Heli Skiing FAQs:
Do I need my own equipment?
Most packages include rentals of fat skis or powder boards. The fatter the better in deep powder, so companies encourage you to take advantage of their rentals and try out some new sticks.
What happens on a down day?
Sometimes bad weather prevents you from heli skiing—this is called a “down day” because the helicopter can’t get safely into the air. Often you’ll get to spend the day skiing at Revelstoke Mountain Resort instead (and bad weather often means great skiing!), or if you’re at a lodge you can relax, rest your legs, and get a massage.
Is heli skiing safe?
While the mountains always carry an element of risk, your certified and experienced ski guide’s primary responsibility is keeping you safe. Each company has daily safety meetings where they decide where the safest—and best—skiing will be. All avalanche safety equipment is provided as part of your trip and the adventure beings with avalanche safety training.
