Revelstoke is nestled between the Selkirk and Monashee mountains, accessed by the Trans Canada Highway. Neither too remote nor too accessible, getting here is part of the adventure.
Be sure to consider the season and the weather when planning your trip. If you are planning a winter visit, consider taking the shuttle if you are not comfortable with winter driving.
Travel Methods

By Air
We recommend flying to Kelowna International Airport (YLW). From Kelowna, it’s a 2.5-hour drive or shuttle ride to Revelstoke. Car rentals and shuttles are available at the Kelowna airport. Private shuttle transfers are available through Revelstoke Transfers and Kelowna Transfers.

By Road
Revelstoke is well connected via the Trans-Canada Highway, with scenic routes from both BC and Alberta. From the east, you'll travel through the rugged beauty of Glacier National Park and the iconic Rogers Pass. From the west, you'll drive past the Okanagan Valley, full of lakes and orchards. It's a 2.5-hour drive from Kelowna or a 4.5-hour drive from Calgary.

Travel to Revelstoke requires driving through high mountain passes where highway conditions may change rapidly. Check DriveBC periodically for road conditions, closures, construction events, and other notices.
Winter Tires
Tires with a mountain and snowflake or M+S rating are required from October 1 to April 30. If renting a vehicle, request winter tires ahead of time.
Drive Times
Kelowna
The drive from Kelowna to Revelstoke is 187 km (116 mi) and takes about 2.5 hours. The route follows Highways 97 and 1, passing through Vernon and along the shores of lakes like Kalamalka and Mara before joining the Trans-Canada in Sicamous.
Kamloops
The drive from Kamloops to Revelstoke is 211 km (131 mi) and takes around 2.5 hours. You'll follow the Trans-Canada Highway through the Shuswap region, with sweeping views of farms, forests, and surrounding mountain ranges.
Calgary
The drive from Calgary is 410km (255 mi) and takes 4.5 hours. The route follows the Trans-Canada Highway west through the foothills, Banff National Park, Yoho National Park, and Glacier National Park.
Edmonton
The drive from Edmonton to Revelstoke is 701 km (436 mi) and takes roughly 7 hours. You'll head south to Calgary, then follow the Trans-Canada Highway west through the Rockies and across Rogers Pass.
Vancouver
The drive from Vancouver to Revelstoke is 565 km (351 mi) and takes about 6.5 hours. Travel east via the Trans-Canada Highway through the Fraser Valley, past Kamloops, and along the Shuswap before reaching the mountains around Revelstoke.
Seattle, WA
The drive from Seattle to Revelstoke is 674 km (419 mi) and takes about 7.5 hours. After crossing the border into British Columbia, you'll drive through the Okanagan region, then head north through Vernon and connect to the Trans-Canada Highway in Sicamous.
