8 Picnic Spots in Revelstoke.

For the love of picnics and grand spots to eat take-out and good snacks, here are our top spots. We started with the closest picnic areas to downtown Revelstoke. The farther down the list you go, the more remote they get!

As with all adventures in Revelstoke, be sure to leave the spots you visit better than you found them.

Downtown

Centennial Park.

Revelstoke is home to a stunning trail network along the Columbia River and the Illecilewaet River. The trail network offers a paved multi-use pathway and numerous gravel trails, perfect for dog walks, bike rides, and time by the water. Centennial Park is located at one end of the greenbelt with many benches and picnic tables that look onto the Columbia River. It's a short walk from the core of downtown Revelstoke and also drivable.

How to get there? From Victoria Road, head down Campbell Avenue, past the Revelstoke Aquatic and Community Centre, to Cenntenial Park Drive.

Farwell

Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre.

Right beside the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre, the old Revelstoke Jail, are three picnic tables surrounded by many community garden boxes. It's a great spot for those heading out of town as it's close to Highway One.

How to get there? The Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre is one of the first buildings you see when you arrive in our town off of Highway 1 (from the four-way intersection). At the first roundabout on Victoria Avenue, you’ll take your first right onto Wright street (you’ll see the Bowl'd Restaurant) You will take your first right onto Third Street West and continue to the end of this street, where you will see our building and parking.

Visual Arts Centre Picnic Area

Downtown

Kovach Park.

Located in the residential area of "Southside", this park features a skate park, playground, washrooms, basketball court, and of course, picnic areas!

This is the perfect spot for families or those looking to venture onto the Illecilewaet Greenbelt trails.

How to get there? From the downtown core, head east on Victoria Road, at the round about, take the second exit onto fourth street. Turn right on Edward Street. At the stop sign, go straight until you see Kovach Park on your left.

Mount Revelstoke National Park

Monashee Viewpoint.

Drive 8km up the Meadows in the Sky Parkway in Mount Revelstoke National Park to the Monashee Viewpoint for a panoramic view of Revelstoke and the Columbia Valley. Facilities include a picnic table and a washroom.

Park Pass Required.

Westside Road

Big Eddy.

Located a short drive from downtown Revelstoke is a small boulder climbing recreation site. There is a picnic table along the eddy that looks out onto the Columbia River and the Revelstoke Golf Course.

Limited maintenance services are provided at this site. Please respect the environment and pack out what you pack in.

How to get there? Head west on highway one, crossing the bridge over the Columbia River. At the next right turn, turn onto Westside Road. Continue along Westside Road until you see a large pull out and recreation site signs.

Big Eddy | Recreation Day Use Site

Lake Revelstoke

Martha Creek Provincial Park.

Located about 20km north of Revelstoke on Lake Revelstoke Reservoir, Martha Creek is a lakeside spot with beach access, picnic shelter, and a boat launch.

The beach day-use/picnic area located at the south end of the campground has 6 picnic tables, 20 m back from the shoreline. Nearby are an adventure playground, a water tap, and 2 pit toilets. The beach is coarse sand and pebbles, 300m long and flat.

Please note, Highway 23N has limited cell coverage and no services.

How to get there? From Highway One, turn onto Highway 23N and continue along for approximately 15 minutes. Martha Creek Provincial Park will be clearly signed on your left.

Lake Revelstoke

Wadey Recreation Site.

The site is located on Highway 23 North, 25 km north of the Trans Canada Highway. Wadey Recreation Site is a large site just south of Laforme Creek on Lake Revelstoke. It has 30 sites nestled in the trees, a boat launch and a day use / beach area.

Please note, Lake Revelstoke has limited cell coverage and no services.

How to get there? From Highway One, turn onto Highway 23N and continue along for approximately 25 minutes. Martha Creek Provincial Park will be clearly signed on your left.

Wadey Recreation Site | Campground

Lake Revelstoke

Carnes Creek Recreation Site (South).

Located 36km from Revelstoke, Carnes Creek has a small day-use site located next to Lake Revelstoke, with gorgeous views of Frenchman's Cap and Hat Peak.

This is a remote area with no cell coverage or services.

How to get there? From Highway One, turn onto Highway 23N and continue along for approximately 35 minutes. The turn off to Carnes will be on your left.
