ATV & Off Roading

Rip around on the back roads.

With a rugged machine and a motor, the options are endless. Revelstoke is rugged, raw, and full throttle. With endless forest service roads and ATV trails, there is no shortage of adventure. You'll find tight technical trails, remote lakes, and wide-open stretches with epic valley views.

All BC forestry roads should be considered active industrial areas. 2-way radios with enough power to reach 8km and have all 35 RR & 4 load channels are required by law. Everyone must call their KM up or down.

safety is sexy.

Revy's terrain shifts fast, think landslides, washouts, and active industrial traffic. Ride smart: know your machine, your limits, and never ride alone or under the influence. Always wear a helmet and proper gear.

Bring your license, registration, tools, extra belt, spark plus, gas, extra key (!!), first aid kit, firestarter, signalling gear, knife, saw, and enough to spend a night if needed.

A VHF radio with RR channels isn't optional on FSRs, it's required. Respect the ride, the land, and your life.

Road Calling & Radio Use

Knowing how to use a mobile radio and following road procedures is critical to the safe use of these roads.

Resource Road Orientation

Learn how to travel on Forest Service Roads/Backcountry Roads where industrial traffic works. EVEN ON WEEKENDS. Loaded log trucks can weigh 10 times more than a regular pick-up, have limited maneuverability and can take up to 300 feet to stop.

Road Channel Map

On Forest Service Roads (FSRs), two-way radios communicate location, direction, and safety information. Road channels are specifically designated for this purpose and should only be used for communicating on the road.

Sproat Mountain Lookout

In 2003, the Revelstoke ATV Club took over "management" of Sproat Mountain Lookout in agreement with BC Rec Sites & Trails. The mountain opens to ATV traffic on July 15 each year. While the tower is no longer a 'working fire lookout', the Revy ATV Club has restored and maintained it along with the trail leading up to it.

The trail leading to Sproat Tower is considered moderate to difficult and is for experienced riders. Riders will have great views of Arrow Lake Valley and the Columbia River.

Responsible Rider Tip: 2-way radio use is required when accessing resource roads leading up to Sproat. There are very few pull-off or passing areas.

Wap Mabel FSR

Explore the backroads in the Monashee Mountain Range, with easy riding down the Wap creek, past Wap lake, and down towards Mabel Lake.

There are numerous side roads to explore with mountain and valley views, including Frog Falls Recreation Site, Rutherford FSR, and all the way to Kingfisher FSR, where you will find Kidney and Liver Lake.

Watch for industrial traffic, as this is an active resource road. 2-way radios are required.

Directions: Unload at the gravel pit, just off Highway 1 near Three Valley Gap.
