Exploring parks this fall.
There are still plenty of adventures to be had in our nearby national parks. The changing leaves and mild temperatures make it an ideal time to get those last hikes in, take some great photos, or enjoy a picnic.
We asked our friends at Parks Canada to tell us the best things to do in the fall in Mount Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks.
September
Alpine Hikes.
Before the snow begins to fly at the mountain summits (usually mid-late October), Glacier National Park and Mount Revelstoke host some of the most amazing hikes with views of glaciers, waterfalls, alpine lakes, and old-growth forests.
Our team recommends Balu Pass Trail, Pearly Rock Glacier Trail, and Hermit Meadows in Glacier National Park.
In Mount Revelstoke National Park, our team recommends Eva Lake Trail, Miller Lake Trail, and Fire Lookout Trail.

September - November
Low Elevation Hikes.
Glacier National Park and Mount Revelstoke host some of the most amazing hikes within our temperate rainforest that remain snow-free longer (October - November).
Our team recommends Bear Creek Falls, Loop Brook Trail, and Meeting of the Waters in Glacier National Park.
In Mount Revelstoke National Park, our team recommends Giant Cedars Boardwalk, Inspiration Woods, and Nels' Knickers Interpretive Trail.

September - Early October
Scenic Ride or Drive.
Drive or ride your bike up the Meadows in the Sky Parkway!
Stop at the Monashee Viewpoint and the Columbia Viewpoint for spectacular views of Revelstoke's valley and nearby mountain ranges.
The parkway closes gradually from the summit down depending on the snow level. Check in with the Revelstoke Visitor Centre or Parks Canada office for more info.
Dogs are welcome below Columbia Viewpoint on the Meadows in the Sky Parkway but must remain on a leash at all times.

Camp.
Relax by the fire and snuggle up in your tent or trailer. Snowforest Campground and Illecillewaet Campground close early to mid-October.
Pro-tip: Pack warm layers, a toque, and mittens as it gets chilly at night.
Campground
Snowforest Campground
Located near the start of the Meadows in the Sky Parkway in Mount Revelstoke National Park, Snowforest is a short 5 km drive from downtown Revelstoke. The campground offers a variety of options including large pull-through RV campsites with electricity. Open May - October.
Campground
Illecillewaet Campground
A great basecamp for exploring Glacier National Park at the starting point for several popular trails. Campsites are unserviced, accommodating tents and RVs. Sites for large RVs are very limited and all sites are first come, first served. The name Illecillewaet comes from a Sinixt word meaning "big water".
