Spring Gathering

June 10 @ 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm

$10

Join us for the Spring Gathering, hosted by The Indigenous Friendship Society of Revelstoke in collaboration with Indigenous Education School District #19. This vibrant event marks the society’s second annual gathering, and for the first time, it will be open to the general public. We invite the people of Revelstoke to come and experience the rich traditions and talents of Indigenous communities on June 10th, 2023, from 2-6 pm at Queen Elizabeth Park in Revelstoke.

Prepare yourself for an unforgettable afternoon filled with captivating performances, talented artisans, and delicious food trucks. Our lineup of performers features Sage Hill Singers, hailing from the Kamloops area. They bring the essence of the Secwépemc people’s heritage to life with drum and dance.

We are honored to present Two-spirit Transgender Ktunaxa Author, Academic, and Spoken Word Poet, Smokii Sumac, who will grace us with their thought-provoking words and powerful presence. Additionally, we have the pleasure of hosting Rainmaker August, a gifted Secwépemc musician whose melodies will transport you to another realm.

For those with a passion for culinary exploration, Shane Chartrand, the author of the celebrated book “Tawâw: Progressive Indigenous Cuisine,” will be joining us. You will have the opportunity to meet Shane and purchase autographed copies of his cookbook, which beautifully showcases Indigenous culinary traditions.

To support the initiatives of The Indigenous Friendship Society, we will be selling vibrant orange t-shirts as a fundraiser. Show your solidarity and take home a meaningful souvenir.

Tickets for the event are available for purchase on the Arts Revelstoke website and at the gate. Prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children.
