Every year, on Earth Day, Birch & Lace hold a fashion show like no other to encourage Revelstoke’s residents to think more carefully about their trash. Like other shows, there’s a catwalk and each outfit is hand designed but at the Trashion Show, every outfit entered into this fundraising event must be constructed entirely of trash. From the weird to the wonderful, the quirky to the beautiful; each outfit helps raise money for WaterAid, who work to provide clean drinking water and sanitation for people across the planet, and the North Columbia Environmental Society (NCES), who work to educate people about their environment and foster stewardship of the natural world around Revelstoke. Amongst other things, the NCES provide Junior Naturalist programs and Glacier Stewardship programs for young people and facilitate the annual bike swap, keeping more cars off Revelstoke’s roads.
With an opportunity to raise money, win prizes and see the incredible creations, the recycling extravaganza has quickly become a staple of the Revelstoke social calendar! Don’t miss out!
Get your tickets from Birch & Lace or on the door, join the conversation using #TrashionTalk, or even enter a piece! Applications forms to show off your handiwork are available at Birch & Lace and Feather & Stone until April 15th.
