In The Lap Of Luxury: The All-Inclusive Heli Ski Experience

It’s no longer a secret that the longest, deepest and powder-luscious skiing/boarding is accessed via helicopter — and Revelstoke is the heli ski shangri-la.

Last month, we gave you the First Timer Primer and what you can expect from The Small Group Experience. For those of us who delight in the fact that “money is no object,” we’ll take you on the heli ski trip that most of us can only hope to dream about. In part three of our four part mini-series, we’ll take flight with Mica Heli Skiing enjoying the lap of luxury.

Revelstoke heli ski: The Luxury Experience

There are two packages available at Mica; the Classic heli ski program and the Private heli ski program. Both provide an intimate small-group heli ski experience in the western Canadian Rocky mountains, 150 km north of Revelstoke, BC.

Classic heli ski guests are met in Kelowna, BC or Revelstoke, BC where they are transported in a plush shuttle bus to Mica staging. Upon arrival they are whisked across Kinbasket lake in a helicopter to the front steps of Mica Lodge. The Classic heli skiing program offers a 4:1 skier to guide ratio. With four groups of four and two Astar helicopters servicing the program, there is no waiting for helicopters or a large group.

The classic heli ski guests reside in Mica lodge. Built in 2012, the lodge was meticulously designed with heli skiers in mind, offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains,  comfortable guest suites, massage services, rooftop hot tubs, personal ski lockers, fitness and business centers, an apres ski bar and cozy lounges to mingle with other guests or quietly read a book by the fire.

Indulgent gourmet meals are prepared by red-seal chefs, paired with award winning wines, and craft-brewed beers. Massage staff is on hand to help soothe tired muscles. Ski techs ensure the heli ski equipment provided is in top shape, and our excellent guide and pilot team work hard to provide a safe and exceptional heli ski program for all of our guests.

The Mica Private is the ultimate luxury getaway, catering to those who want a fully customized experience. It begins with a swift helicopter charter from the Kelowna Airport direct to Mica Lodge. A dedicated Bell- 407 helicopter is your chariot for the duration of the  tour. Whether Private heli ski guests hope to explore the depths of the tenure all day long, or do a few runs and head back to the lodge for a coffee and home bake cookie by the fire, the Private heli ski program provides the flexibility to cater to whatever type of ski program is desired.

The Private heli ski guests sleep in their own deluxe chalet, just a few steps away from the main lodge. A beautiful log ski-chalet, with four spacious suites, private lounge and fireplace, wet bar, massage quarters and hot tub  is the private groups domain for the duration of their stay.

With 1:1 staff to guest ratio, Mica ensures that all of your needs are met, with friendly and attentive staff who are certified experts in their respective fields. From the organic handmade salves on private guests pillows  to the billions of tiny snow crystals that blanket the 500 square mile tenure in 40-60 feet of snow a year- Mica knows that it’s all about the little things that create an extraordinary experience for their guests.

This month, Unofficial Networks highlighted Mica Heli Ski as one of the 10 Best Places To Go Heli-Skiing. I’m thinking you can probably guess why!

Tourism Revelstoke acknowledge the hard work of HeliCat Canada, the trade association working on behalf of helicopter and snowcat skiing operations in BC on a number of fronts. They offer accreditation programs; identify best practices and develop policies within the industry; collaborate with organizations on research projects surrounding avalanche safety, sustainability and species at risk; and work with government with respect to issues such as land use and tenure agreements in the communities in which they operate.
