The Defining Mountains of Revelstoke: Mount Mackenzie

The origins of our iconic resort.

Mount Mackenzie was actually the second location for downhill skiing in Revelstoke. The sport had been growing in popularity since the 1940s with the town’s first ski jump initially established on the neighbouring Mount Revelstoke. Through the 1960s, the sport existed simultaneously between the two peaks until it moved exclusively to Mount Mackenzie in 1969.

About.

Mount Mackenzie is a 2,461-metre (8,074 ft) mountain just southeast of the city of Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada. Part of the Selkirk Mountains, it is the site of the Revelstoke Mountain Resort ski area and was named for the Right Honourable Sir Alexander Mackenzie, the second Prime Minister of Canada. Today, Revelstoke Mountain Resort calls Mount Mackenzie home.

Mount Mackenzie Today.

Today, Mount Mackenzie is home to Revelstoke Mountain Resort, a four-season destination for outdoor enthusiasts. It's known for its longest vertical descent in North America and massive snowfall (thanks to being in the world's only inland temperate rainforest zone)! RMR offers hiking, mountain biking, gondola-access sightseeing, and other recreational activities such as the Pipe Mountain Coaster.
