STORIES OF THE FOREST
Laura Stovel, Christy Shaw, Rob Buchanan, Claire Sieber.
Forests have stories to tell for those who know how to see them. Slow down, look carefully and the forest around you may reveal it’s secrets. This exhibition explores the connections foresters, biologists, foragers, educators, and indigenous knowledge keepers have with the forest throughout its seasons.
HONOUR | RESPECT
Ariel Hill – Bneshiinhs
Ariel Hill is a Revelstoke artist who specializes in hand-blown glass and sterling silver jewellery, in fact you’ve probably already seen some of her work around town under the name AKH Studio. Ariel Hill is an indigenous artist who takes strong inspiration from the earth. Hailing from the Six Nations and Wiikwemkoong First Nations her patterns and colour pallet are inspired by vast landscapes, and microscopic details of stones and plants.
WHERE THE SOUL RESIDES
Aimy Van der Linden
Where the Soul Resides comments on the cleansing energy and balancing forces that nature provides us. In the backcountry, the world is still, and it becomes pure, silent and stripped of perceived chaos. The soul is drawn to this place as a refuge from the ever-pressing dialogue of the manmade world. The backcountry offers the mind, soul, and body a way to reset, find calm, regain balance and be cleansed through exploration of where we come from. Getting back to nature offers a deeper reflection of how beautiful our natural world is, that there is positivity to be found around us and that the outside world has much to be discovered, enjoyed and celebrated.
Want to keep the celebrations going? Head over to Monashee for their brand new cocktail The Curator. Every month this delicious creation will feature an image by the mail gallery artist right on the top of your drink.
