I was trying to drum up a really great blog idea that would be super unique and get everyone fired up for sledding here in Revelstoke. But it seems that since winter has already presented herself heavily in these parts, there was no need to ramp up ‘the stoke’. Instead, I thought it would be neat to grace you with fun photos of our amazing, early, and well deserved winter, in addition to telling you why I plan on growing old with my family in this amazing town.
The people are second to none, on any given day you will have at least one friend (if not more) who are willing to go out and shred a mountain with you.
There are nine hundred and fifty rad things to do on a mountain and even more mountains to choose from than things to do! I drove 45 minutes, sailed across Arrow Lake on a free ferry and then rode my bike through a beautiful old growth forest that ended at relaxing hot springs. I’d say that equals a pretty rad day! Living in such an active community makes it really easy to stay fit in the off season so that you are in prime shape to get after it come winter! It seems like all the fitness and health centres focus on the mountain lifestyle which makes a huge difference and helps keep the injury levels low! If you’re looking for a great space for a work out, I’d definitely recommend Trans Canada Fitness or Revelution.
The community supports each other. It feels like one big, giant family – and that’s a good thing, because it takes a village to raise a child! This photo was taken at the 509 Volume 10 Premiere held in November at the Roxy Theatre.
There is something great about every day in the mountains, if it is not the snow, it is the views. In this case, it was both. Photo credit to Taylor Fisk of Motorfist who snapped this one of me shredding some November pow last month.
Oh, did I mention the snow? Just another sunny pow shot from this past week on one of the funnest snowmobile zones in the world – Boulder Mountain, Revelstoke, BC. And yes, funnest is a word! (More information on Snowmobiling in Revelstoke).
There are countless opportunities to gain knowledge from all the people around you. Here, everyone shares a passion for the pursuit of snow and conquering the mountains. Learning from each other is just another perk to many great friendships.
