Snowshoeing

Wander through winter wonderland.

Snowshoeing is one of the best ways to explore Revelstoke in the winter. Wander through giant forests, check out the subalpine, or walk by the riverside.

Our epic snowfalls mean that access to some wilderness areas is limited, but a pair of snowshoes allows you the freedom to explore. Bring your equipment, rent in town, or book a guided tour. Before heading out, make sure to check with the Visitor Information Centre about avalanche terrain and conditions.

Snowshoe Routes

Beginner

Start with a guided tour at Revelstoke Mountain Resort with the Revelstoke Snowshoe Company, or try the trails around the Illecillewaet Greenbelt. From downtown, you can also follow Mount Revelstoke National Park's Tournament of Champions trail.

Intermediate

Head to Begbie Falls, which is often frozen in the winter. Park at the beginning of the Begbie Falls Forest Service Road and follow the trail about 2.5 km from there. Another great option is to park at the gate of Mount Revelstoke National Park and head for Inspiration Woods or the Soren Sorensen loop.

Expert

Mount Revelstoke National Park's Summit Trail will offer plenty of challenge as you wind up the slopes through Snow Forest. Unless otherwise noted, the trails and the Meadows in the Sky Parkway on the lower slopes of Mount Revelstoke are classified as "simple" avalanche terrain. Along the parkway, you should still stay vigilant for snow slumping from steep slopes along the roadway. Make sure you visit avalanche.ca for current conditions.
