Mountain Pride 2024

A pride celebration in the mountains!

We are hosting Mountain Pride – a family-friendly event for queer community and allies. This will include a day of multi-sport activities with free community party in collaboration with Queer Shred Revelstoke to celebrate PRIDE in Revelstoke and the surrounding mountains. This day will be all about creating safer spaces to support, celebrate, and create awareness for the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

This event will consist of two parts, a pre-registered outdoor academy during the day run by Open Mountains, followed by a free community gathering at one of our local green spaces for all-ages in collaboration with Queer Shred Revy.

MOUNTAIN ACADEMY – 8am – 2:30pm

A one-day choose your own adventure event to celebrate queer community in Revelstoke! The program is open to 2SLGBTQ+ folks and allies from age 15 years+. Priority will be given to folks with intersectional identities. All sports will be offered at an introductory level, with a possibility for intermediate groups based on participant abilities. Guiding and instruction will be provided by certified ACMG guides and instructors. Activities are detailed below. No previous experience in the activity is required. Every activity will be “challenge by choice”, accessible to most bodies and paced by the participant’s needs. Equipment can be provided from the Open Mountains gear locker and local partners if requested.

Activities include: Sport climbing, mountain biking, paddling, and hiking. Registration can be found here.

PLEASE PREREGISTER for the Mountain Academy – Cost per activity will be $40 per person, gear and financial subsidies are available for participants who require support.

Following the Mountain Academy we are hosting a free, community event in Revelstoke to encourage folks to come together to celebrate pride! All invited! Join us at the Queer Village for live music, family friendly activities, art stations, food trucks, skatepark meet up, all wheels welcome!
