The Tourism Marketing Coordinator is responsible for marketing Revelstoke as a year-round destination in collaboration with key tourism partners.
Reporting Relationship: The Tourism Marketing Coordinator reports to the Executive Director of the Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce for operational and financial functions, as well as City of Revelstoke Tourism Marketing initiatives. The overall strategic direction is guided by the Revelstoke Accommodation Association (RAA).
Work cooperatively with local, regional and provincial tourism marketing stakeholders (Revelstoke Accommodation Association, Revelstoke Mountain Resort, Kootenay Rockies Tourism, Destination BC)
Design and produce Revelstoke Tourism publications (Visitor Guide, City Map, etc.)
Assist with Community Event Marketing
Produce Tourism Stakeholder Newsletters for Chamber members
Outline services and identify tourism marketing opportunities for Chamber members
Oversee ad sales and maintain a clean presentation for community tourism kiosks
Oversee Ferry Sales & Racking
Identify and design print advertising initiatives to market Revelstoke in relevant trade publications and other media.
Organize professional development workshops for Chamber Members when the opportunity arises
Attend external industry conferences
Solicit and attract external events and conferences to Revelstoke
Participate on various community committees as relates to the Tourism Marketing position
Formulate and present proposals for unique marketing initiatives and secure funding
Generate revenue from various tourism-marketing initiatives
Support the Visitor Centre and Chamber as needed
The Tourism Marketing Coordinator is a staff member of the Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce and will receive clerical support from Chamber staff. This position also works closely with the Revelstoke Accommodation Association to:
Recruit and host travel trade industry media
Attend travel trade and consumer shows as necessary
Oversee City Tourism website: SeeRevelstoke.com and collaborate on the Digital Strategy
Formal Tourism/Marketing, University, College education is an asset. Consideration will be given to those with minimum 1+ year tourism / marketing industry experience. The position demands excellent interpersonal and project management skills, organization, strong written and oral communication skills as well as a proven track record with marketing, advertising and design in all types of print and electronic mediums. Occasional travel is required for this position. Familiarity with computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and InDesign considered an asset.
