We still have snow on the forest floor, but the flowering crocuses are popping through the fallen leaves from autumn, and soon enough our little mountain town (situated in the world's only inland temperate rainforest) will be enveloped in every colour of green imaginable.
Revelstoke is known as a winter and summer destination, but our off-seasons are just as incredible. Find some travel inspiration with our favourite 10 things to do in Revelstoke in the spring:
1. Explore Our Inland Rainforest
There is so much to explore in our recreation areas and national parks – Revelstoke is located in the world's only inland temperate rainforest!
2. Mountain Biking
The dirt is tacky, and the forests are unbelievably green – we are known for some of the best mountain bike trails in BC (managed and maintained by the Revelstoke Cycling Association).
3. Hit Up the Farmer's Market
Locals spend their mornings at the Farmer's Market, buying fresh produce for an upcoming dinner party, chatting with friends, and sipping Stoke Roasted coffee.
4. Go Foraging
Fiddleheads, nettles, and plenty of other forest goodies are waiting to be foraged. Only forage for food you know for certain is safe.
5. Road Cycling
Take in the beautiful views of the Columbia River and the Monashee Mountains on Airport Way.
6. Visit The Hot Springs
Revelstoke is close to Canyon Hot Springs, Crazy Creek Hot Pools, Halcyon Hot Springs (pictured below), and Nakusp Hot Springs. Want to go truly off the grid? Visit the Halfway Hot Springs BC Recreation Site.
7. Step Back in Time
Spend a day learning about Revelstoke's rich mountain history by museum hopping. Visit the Revelstoke Museum & Archives, the Railway Museum, the BC Interior Forestry Museum, the Fire Hall Museum and the BC Hydro Revelstoke Dam.
8. Trail Running
Revelstoke is quickly becoming known around the world for our incredible trail running. Check out the tall-grass lined maze of trails on the Greenbelt, mossy forests on the Inspiration Woods trail in Mt. Revelstoke NP, and the lookout on the Mount Cartier recreation trail.
9. Spring Backcountry Touring
If you're a die hard ski tourer or splitboarder, then Revelstoke is for you.
10. The Pipe Mountain Coaster at Revelstoke Mountain Resort
